The Peninsula Manila thinks pink in October

MANILA, Philippines - As part of its continuing “Enriching Your Life” campaign, The Peninsula Hotels in Asia and North America are supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month throughout October with “Peninsula in Pink” signature pink-themed promotions.

“In Southeast Asia, the Philippines has the highest incidence of breast cancer,” says The Peninsula Manila general manager Sonja Vodusek. “For 35 years since opening on Sept. 14, 1976, our hotel has worked with various organizations to help make a difference in the lives of people and to be a pillar of hope in society. As a woman, a sister and a daughter, I believe very strongly in the fight against this terrible disease.”

This is the impetus behind The Peninsula Manila’s continuing partnership with ICanServe as charity of choice for its fundraising efforts. ICanServe is a network of breast cancer survivors that provides hope and help to women suffering from this disease.

A signature attraction across all hotels will be the “Peninsula in Pink” Afternoon Tea, offering a selection of pink-hued cakes and pastries in addition to scones, clotted cream and preserves for P735 daily in the Lobby from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm, with 25 percent of the proceeds going directly to ICanServe and guests receiving an original “Peninsula in Pink” pin.

The exclusive “Peninsula in Pink” ribbon pin will be worn by every Peninsula Manila staff member throughout the month.Pins are available for sale at The Lobby for P250, with a donation to ICanServe for each pin sold.

Other hotel outlets such as Salon de Ning are also participating in the campaign with various promos and activities. Even the white marble lion dogs at the entrance will have giant pink bows.

“This October we want all of Manila to think pink and help increase awareness for this dreaded disease. If there is one thing we hope to achieve with our campaign, it is to bring home the message that early detection can save the lives of countless daughters, sisters, mothers and wives,” points out Vodusek.
