Search on for RVR awardee for nation building

Manila, Philippines - The search for nominees for the 2011 Ramon V. del Rosario Sr. Award for Nation Building is on. The deadline for nomination is on May 31, while awarding will take place on July 21 in Makati City.

The RVR Award is a project of Junior Chamber International Manila (formerly Manila Jaycees) in cooperation with the Asian Institute of Management’s Ramon V. del Rosario Center for Corporate Social Responsibility, with the purpose of recognizing individuals who best exemplify outstanding corporate citizenship and have an underlying passion for nation-building.

The award is named in honor of JCI Manila’s founding president and aims to be the premier awards program of JCI Manila as it celebrates more than six decades of providing development opportunities for young people to create positive change within their communities.

The RVR Award, launched in 2009, recognizes those who have answered the call to serve society – first, because they are worthy of the honor, and second, to motivate others to emulate their example.

Last year, the board of Judges headed by former Chief Justice Artemio Panganiban, in a unanimous decision, gave the award to Senen Bacani and Amb. Jesus Tambunting.

Bacani is a dedicated civil servant, an NGO advocate, and an agribusiness manager and entrepreneur, a man working under extremely difficult and even hazardous conditions in the southern Philippines.

Tambunting is a distinguished diplomat, a successful banker and a pioneer in finance and social enterprise development, a man who is making good on the oft-repeated goal to uplift small and medium scale enterprises to sustainable levels.

The Board chose two proven professional managers to highlight not only their current achievements but also because they represent inspirational models of leadership for the next generation of managers and entrepreneurs.

Amb. del Rosario’s work and life was exemplified both by his passion for developing new enterprises and by his concern for nation building – characteristics that the two awardees amply demonstrate in their own unique ways.

Passion for entrepreneurship and nation-building, and the values of integrity and professionalism marked the life of Ramon V. Del Rosario, Sr. By inspiring others by his example, it is hoped that the work of RVR will live on for many generations.
