Smokey Mountain kids get into sports

MANILA, Philippines - At Smokey Mountain in Tondo, Manila, children in their new Supa Strikas uniforms warm up before playing soccer at the “Field of Dreams” sports field. They are the beneficiaries of Caltex Supa Strikas promo which raised funds for sports development in the area.

Last December, Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI), marketer of Caltex branded fuel and lubricants, held the promo where customers get a P20 voucher for every P500 purchase which they can give to any of five charities. The Caltex donation will give children and youth in Smokey Mountain the opportunity to further hone their skills in football, baseball, and other sports.

The grant will be channeled through the Dare to CARE (Community Awareness and Rehabilitation Efforts) of the Junior Chamber Inc. (JCI) Philippines. JCI, a leading youth service organization, has been active in community work in the Smokey Mountain and Tondo areas. JCI is also a partner in Caltex literacy drives in San Pascual, Batangas and Dinarogan, Camarines Sur.

Supa Strikas is a popular comics and animation series about soccer with global headline sponsor Caltex. Consistent with the values of Caltex, Supa Strikas inspires readers to work hard, believe in themselves, and pursue great things.
