DENR Secretary Ramon Paje commended the men and women behind the winning companies, saying their commitment to improve on the environmental performance of their respective firms will hopefully inspire other industries to pursue environmental excellence.
“These companies have no case filed with the Pollution Adjudication Board for three years prior to the date of application; they are in full compliance with all applicable environmental laws and were proven to show superior environmental performance by a third party auditor,” Paje said.
The PEPP aims to support industry self-regulation towards improved environmental performance. By providing a package of incentives and reward mechanisms to industries, the DENR hopes to assist business establishments, particularly small and medium enterprises, to adopt pollution prevention and cleaner production processes.
From 2008-2009, a total of 14 industry associations and eight individual industries have joined the PEPP.
