MANILA, Philippines - The Virgin Labfest, a festival of new plays (untried, untested, unpublished and unstaged) by emerging and well-known playwrights, directors and actors, was one of the winners in the Special Awards category at the recent Aliw Awards.
The Aliw Awards Foundation Inc. presented the Special Award to Virgin Labfest “for providing a vehicle for new writers and directors to showcase their work as well as much needed support for the development of their craft.”
One of the Virgin Labfest‘s featured stage productions, “Balunbalunan, Bingi-bingihan” starred in by theater-film actor Bembol Roco won for him the best stage actor (non-musical) award.
