ICT training for teachers

MANILA, Philippines - Globe recently conducted a training-workshop for 100 teachers in Central Visayas to help them integrate Information and Communications Techno-logy (ICT) in teaching basic subjects like English, science, math, and HeKaSi.

The ICT training is part of the Global Filipino Teachers (GFT) project of Globe Bridging Communities (Globe BridgeCom).

Through GFT, public high school teachers will be equipped with the right tools to make them more globally competitive. In addition, the training program can also be credited as three units of a Masters Program should the teacher want to pursue higher education.

The teachers were selected from schools in Bohol, Negros Oriental, Cebu province and Metro Cebu who were recipients of Globe BridgeCom’s Internet in Schools Program (ISP) in Region 7. ISP provides applicable schools with free Internet access for one year via Globe Broadband.

The GFT Program is done in partnership with the Department of Education-Region 7 and the Coalition for Better Education (CBE), a Cebu-based non-profit organization composed of various education stakeholders from the academe, students, parents, non-government and business organizations.

“Our aim is for our public school teachers to maximize ICT in their teaching profession and enhance the learning skills of students in this generation,” Globe Community Relations head Jeffrey Tarayao said.
