MANILA, Philippines - With the strong winds and heavy rains recently brought by Typhoon Pepeng, Nueva Ecija was identified by the Regional Disaster Coordinating Council (RDCC) as one of the most highly devastated provinces in Central Luzon. For this reason, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office in partnership with DZRH and Foton Motor Phils (FMP) recently launched its “CALAMITY RELIEF ASSISTANCE” in the typhoon stricken towns of Nueva Ecija last October 28, 2009.
Headed by Director Jose “Popoy” Taruc of PCSO, Jay Taruc of DZRH, Nueva Ecija Mayor Alvin Vergara and FMP President Rommel Sytin, a special team was immediately organized to pack relief goods and transport to affected area. A total of 11 Foton Trucks formed the convoy which brought food, clothes, and water to the residents of Nueva Ecija. It was estimated that about 2,000 recipients from the towns of Cabanatuan, Pantabangan, San Jose, Gapan, San Leonardo, and Cabiao were blessed by activity.
