Invasion of the World's Best

MANILA, Philippines - A stellar lineup of professionals have arrived in Camsur to compete in the inaugural Cobra Energy Drink Ironman 70.3 Philippines. The men are lead by former Ironman World Champion Chris McCormack and reigning Ironman 70.3 World Champion Terrenzo Bozzone. Both have been training together and sited the hot conditions in the Philippines as ideal for a pre-Kona tune up. Complimenting the men’s lineup are Cameron Brown (8x Ironman NZ Champion and the most consistent podium triathlete at Kona), together with Pete Jacobs of Australia and Tim Marr from Hawaii. Leading the women’s contingent is Lisa Bentley from Canada (an 11x Ironman Champion) together with Australian Charlotte Paul who won Ironman China earlier this year, and Gina Kehr and Bree Wee both from the United States.

The age group registrations have reached 400 which was in line with the Organizer’s goal for the first year and close to 50 relay teams. This brings the total number of triathletes close to 600 which makes it the largest triathlon to be held in the Philippines. A total of 23 countries are also represented which makes it quite an international affair.

Wet conditions are being anticipated on race day which will add a bit of challenge to the race.

The LifeSport Coaching Success Camp led by Lance Watson is also underway and is being well received by both experienced and novice triathletes. The Camp is complimented by many of the professional triathletes who have shared their experiences and stories. The age groupers enjoyed meeting the pros and going on a short ride for part of the bike course.

Stand by for the results of the race on Sunday afternoon!
