Our Rights, Our Victories: Landmark Cases in the Supreme Court

MANILA, Philippines - A trailblazing book that humanizes the country’s Bill of Rights through 16 landmark cases will soon be available in major bookstores and on Amazon as an e-book.

“Our Rights, Our Victories: Landmark Cases in the Supreme Court,” written by Marites Danguilan Vitug and Criselda Yabes, will be launched on Sept. 21, the 39th anniversary of the declaration of martial law in the country.

“This is not your usual book about law and cases decided by the Supreme Court,” Pablito Sanidad, past chairman of the Free Legal Assistance Group, wrote in the blurb. “What makes the book interestingly different and easily readable is that it was not written by lawyers. It delivers the refreshing message that the law is not just for lawyers. It is for everyone.”

Vitug and Yabes are authors of various books. Together, they wrote “Jalan Jalan: A Journey Through Eaga,” a spirited exploration of the country’s southernmost frontier and its neighboring states.
