Phone lines of the voguish and proto-chic were busy as everyone decided to throw an impromptu surprise party for Italian designer Carlo Cordaro. Having clocked more than twenty years in Cebu, Carlo is an honorary Cebuano and is a presence in the community. He has taken it upon himself to foster the city’s relations with the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Ambassadors and representatives to the Embassy. To compliment Carlo’s love
for everything Italian-Cebuano, the intimate but exciting party was held at Bellini champagne and cocktail bar in Nivel Hills. Dancing under the stars while sipping champagne lasting well into the evening is always a jazzy way to spend a Saturday night in July.
Proving that Davao is fast becoming a cosmopolitan capital on its own, Marco Polo Davao partnered with Havaianas for one of the most anticipated events the city has seen this year, the Black Velvet soiree last July 9. Painting the town black, the Davaoeños were thrilled to dress up in the best LBD’s they could find. “The collection puts an elegant twist on classic Havaianas flip-flops… the Black Velvet party tonight embodies all that – fashion and elegance but still fun,” says Marga Nograles, creative director of Martish Marketing, the brand’s exclusive sub-distributor for Southern and Eastern Mindanao of the 2011 Havaianas Embellished Collection.
