The 50-year-old center currently treats over 300 Filipinos, providing special education and treatment to an average of 90 CPs a day. It costs P1,000 a month or P12,000 a year to treat one child.
The event was emceed by John Lesaca, also a trustee. Performing arias and other classical pieces were soprano Rachelle Gerodias, tenor Nolyn Cabahug, flutist Tony Maigue and the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra with conductor Rodel Colmenar.
Apres the show, two CPs and one blind adult rendered three touching numbers, directed by music therapist Celeste Sanchez. The audience, palanggas, was in tears when Jaime Carmona, Eileen Fernandez and Celso Conti rendered their songs. Jose Mari Chan even approached the performers and offered to sing with them next time they perform.
