The success that is Boracay Regency

The triple A-rated resort Boracay Regency Beach Resort, which is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, is a symbol of topnotch hospitality in Boracay.

The hardworking Henann Group of Resorts team led by chairman Henry Chusuey, executive vice president Alfons Chusuey and marketing manager Karl Chusuey hosted a grand dinner party at the resort’s sprawling beachfront. The party was attended by noted personalities from the diplomatic, government and business circles including Korean Ambassador Hyuk Lee and wife Won Wan Soo, Romanian Ambassador Valeriu Gheorghe, Latvia Consul Bobby Joseph, Senate President Franklin Drilon, Sen. Cynthia Villar, Aklan Gov. Florencio Miraflores, Malay, Aklan Mayor John Yap and renowned architect Jun Palafox.

The event also had an exciting raffle draw with prizes consisting of resort accommodations at Boracay Regency, Boracay Garden Resort and Regency Lagoon Resort and round-trip tickets to Phuket and Seoul. Another anticipated part of the program was the awarding ceremony for the resort’s top producers.

Adding excitement to the evening’s festivities was the stellar performance of the one and only Concert Queen Pops Fernandez. A magnificent 15-minute fireworks display concluded the night.

Plantation Bay hosts Davis Cup 5

Once again, the world-class clay court of Cebu’s Plantation Bay Resort and Spa will be the site of the third round of the Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Zone Group II on Sept. 13 to 15.

The Davis Cup Tie games, the premier international team event in men’s tennis, will pit the Philippines against New Zealand. 

The resort, being a premier holiday destination on Mactan Island, also found itself filled with VIP guests like Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano who stayed with his whole family for a few days during his oath-taking that took place in Cebu.

The resort also served as a scenic backdrop for the magazine health program Salamat Dok’s summer special.

In honor of finance educators

Dean Maurice Checa-Sabio of Malayan Colleges Laguna was presented the Most Outstanding Finance Educator (OFE) National Award for 2012 to 2013 by Deloitte Philippines and Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (FINEX) Foundation during the awarding ceremonies held at the Hotel InterContinental Manila in Makati City. 

Dean Sabio has been teaching for the past 13 years and serves as the coach of her school’s team in the Inter-Collegiate Finance Competition organized by FINEX.  The regional OFE awardees are Dr. Lope Dapun from the University of Southern Mindanao, Prof. Sheevun Di Guliman from the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology and Dean Sabio from Malayan Colleges Laguna. A special award for corporate governance studies was given to Dr. Benito Teehankee of De La Salle University-Manila.
