The Levi’s brand launches a new Philippine-wide campaign that shows off its indisputable rich archives and asserts its leadership in jeans. The original jeans creator reinterprets denim by demonstrating innovativeness and authenticity for this Spring Summer 2010 Collection.

The collection called “Modern Vintage” connects the brand’s authentic history to the inspiration for its new denim collection. Levi’s is the only brand that can truly claim to have an illustrious archive since 1873.

Levi Strauss Philippines Inc. marketing manager Jen Jimenez says, “The collection and campaign will be introduced in the Philippines in all Levi’s stores nationwide. Its launch is our first offering to discriminating and fashion-forward Levi’s fans this 2010.”

World-class ballroom dancers at the third Philippine StarBall

The country’s biggest, grandest and most anticipated ballroom dance competition is set to take center stage once again as the third Philippine StarBall, an open international ballroom championship will be held at the prestigious Makati Shangri-La Hotel tomorrow.

Chairman of the organizing committee Michaela “Pinky” Puno invited the top competitors she watched at the Blackpool Festival and The Internationals competition in London. About 80 international dancers have already confirmed their participation in the competition. They will be coming from the US, Italy, Denmark, Russia, Lithuania, Slovenia, Poland, Australia, Germany, Serbia, England, Bulgaria, Croatia, Latvia, Canada, Norway, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Austria, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Japan and will show their skills in the five International style Latin dances (chacha, samba, rumba, paso doble, and jive) and the five International style standard dances (slow waltz, tango, foxtrot, Viennese waltz and quick step).

There will be a new format this year as the six finalists in the Professional Latin and Standard division will each dance a Show Number to their chosen music as part of the competition. Last year’s Amateur Latin winners of the Philippine StarBall and also the darlings of the evening Kirill Belorukov and Elvira Skrylnikova will be back.

Emcee of the third Philippine StarBall will be 10-time US national champion Gary McDonald. The television special will be hosted by seven-time Danish champion and World and European amateur champion Charlotte Jorgensen and Filipino theatrical actor/singer Audie Gemora.

The third Philippine StarBall is being organized by the Council of United Professional Dance Teachers of the Philippines, Inc. (CUPDTP) headed by Jose Cariño, with the major support of the Department of Tourism, First Gentleman’s Foundation, Pagcor and PCSO. Proceeds of the competition will go to Kythe, a foundation that helps children afflicted with cancer.
