Socialite Nene Leonor recently celebrated her natal anniversary through an early afternoon tea party in Marionnaud, France’s largest beauty store chain of cosmetics, fragrance and skin care, at the SM Mall of Asia. The Estee Lauder-sponsored VIP gathering was attended by the veritable who’s who in Nene’s immediate circle of friends. Cutting the ribbon during the brief program were Ambassador Cristina Ponce-Enrile, Dr. Elenita Binay, Menchu Concepcion and ‘Asia’s Fashion Czar’ Pitoy Moreno. The aroma of Lavazza coffee and Clipper tea pervaded the air as platefuls of sconces, hors d’ oeuvre and petit fours exchange hands.
Among those who graced the affair were Monaco Consul Fortune Ledesma, Nini Licaros, Emily Lopez, Daisy Payumo, Chit Salud, Fe Rodriquez, Tessie Amparo, Marissa Fenton, Becky Garcia and Tina Jacinto.
Many, many more to come, Nene!

From Japan with love
The Philippine Embassy in Tokyo, led by Ambassador to Japan Domingo Siazon Jr., recently participated in the Hamamatsu International Mosaiculture 2009, an international horticultural exposition and competition, held in Hamamatsu City, Japan. The Philippine entry named “Serena, the Dugong,” the symbol of Philippine-Japan friendship, attracted over 25,000 people and was awarded the competition’s “Innovation” prize by chairman Masakuni Nakayama. The event, which was participated by secretary general of ASEAN-Japan Centre Yoshikuni Ohnishi and other local dignitaries, included a Philippine Day show that featured two songs entitled Mosaiculture Polka and Serena is a Mermaid written by Kay Siazon as sang by Noa Mizuki. Furthermore, baroness Charlotte de Rothschild, who was visiting Japan, sang at a charity recital held at the Philippine Ambassador’s residence in Tokyo, which raised 300,000 yen for the victims of typhoon Ondoy and the less fortunate Filipino children. Congratulations and Mabuhay!
