MANILA, Philippines - It was an elegant evening of great food and company as Manila’s veritable who’s who gathered for an intimate dinner at Caruso Ristorante Italiano, an outstanding restaurant in Makati. Dapper Caruso co-owner Dario Gardini graciously treated everyone to a first-class dining experience replete with authentic Italian dishes such as garganelli ai funghi porcini dell’Ossola (home made pasta with fresh porcini mushroom), scaloppine di vitello al limone (veal slices in lemon sauce) and salmone fresco agli agrumi (fresh salmon with orange and lemon flavor) perfectly finished off with the sinful home-made panna cotta dessert. Amidst the fine music, guests engaged in tête-à-tête while toasting to the crisp and smooth Pinot Grigio and Sangiovese Puglia wines. True to the generosity of Caruso, gorgeously-potted poinsettias and an all-Italian Splendy Spaziale bathrobe invented by Milanese entrepreneur Emilio Mina were raffled off to the delight of the guests.
Congratulations Caruso and a toast to more fantastic Italian nights!
‘A Show of Shows’
World-renowned visual artist and Presidential Medal of Merit Awardee Juvenal Sanso recently opened his much awaited exhibit Premier Sanso, A Show of Shows at the Mandarin Oriental Suites’ Sapphire Ballroom in Gateway Mall, Quezon City. Co-produced by the Araneta Group and Galerie Joaquin, art lovers joined the master painter on a virtual journey into the colorful facets of his life beginning as an expressionist painter, printmaker, photographer and textile designer to a set and costume designer for several opera houses in Paris including the Toulouse opera house in France and the Aix-en-Provence Festival. A treasure trove of his rare works never before seen by the public was displayed. The master painter hosted a highly-successful Special Authentication Day and affixed his signature on previously unsigned works to celebrate his 80th birthday. In lieu of a grand celebration, he donated part of the proceeds of his show to the Philippine National Red Cross.
Happy birthday and bravo, Maestro Sanso!
