Ethereal rapture

It was an enchanting evening indeed when Elaine Lee, the mesmerizing soprano with a heavenly voice, who holds a bachelor’s degree in opera performance from the University of British Columbia in Canada, recently took on the role of producer as well as performer in her first major project Bella Notte. Held at the Philam Life Theatre, the new opera star enthralled the audience with excerpts from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess and Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro and Magic Flute. Bella Notte showcased Elaine’s versatility in acting and opera as well as pop tunes. She and songwriter Jose Mari Chan sang a beautiful duet entitled Unexpected Song by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Her performance of Rossini’s The Cat Duet was definitely the most memorable with a lot of dance movements and no lyrics except for the word “meow.” Capping off the evening’s repertoire was her final song Les Filles de Cadix (Delibes) as she waved a bouquet of flowers like a magic wand. Bravo, Elaine!
