Jewelmer, the country’s foremost producer of South Sea pearls and pearl jewelry, opened the doors of its newest showroom recently at the Shangri-La Plaza Mall.
This newest addition to the many luxurious stores of the brand, located in major malls and five-star hotels in Metro Manila and Cebu, is situated at the third level (Shaw Boulevard side) of the mall. It is also the second new store that opened this year after Jewelmer opened its TriNoma branch. Before the end of the year, other stunning showrooms will be unveiled at Mall of Asia and in Eastwood City to complete this retail expansion.
During the exclusive champagne brunch, a group of Jewelmer’s good friends from fashion and the media were present to celebrate. Guests were enthralled with the beautiful Philippine pearls.

A dinner for a Prince
A crown prince recently found his way to the Seas Restaurant of Hilton Cebu Resort and Spa. Prince Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands was the guest of honor in a dinner hosted by the Dutch Ambassador to the Philippines, the Ministry of Korea, Dr. Olivia Castillo, UN Secretary General for Water Sanitation Advisory Board Member and Hilton Cebu Resort and Spa owner Manny Osmeña.
The event also gathered the delegates from 33 countries representing UNESCAP (United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific), UNEP (United Nations Environment Program), UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) and other business sector and government agency representatives at the 8th Asia Pacific Round Table on Sustainable Consumption and Production (APRSCP).
One of the very special guests that night was Dr. Lucio Tan, an APRSCP awardee for his efforts on water sustainability along with Manny Osmeña’s Hilton Cebu Resort and Spa for its zero-waste water, zero-water footprint facility comprising of grey water and rainwater treatment processing plant, sewage treatment plant and a water desalination plant.
“I feel that I have found a home in this country. I have told my wife about this and the first chance we get we’ll be coming back here,” Prince Willem-Alexander said. He continued: “It is wonderful when two groups with the same goals come together to share their experiences and know how to pursue sustainable development. One of the prerequisites of this development is water. There is no substitute for water, to achieve sustainable development we have to come together to bring forth this issue. Water is something we can’t do without even for a few days. Sanitation and productivity go hand in hand. That is why we have to invest in it.”
