An excellent year

Sandie Poblador’s birthday party was a celebration of an excellent year for her, Manoling and their children. Their eldest son Manuel graduated from Stowe in England and is entering the University of London this Fall. Miguel, at Charterhouse, passed his GCSE exams in England with very solid results. Alessandra, who is president of the middle school, and Hank, who is in elementary, are both flourishing at the International School Manila. Graced by those she considers her close friends from business, social and diplomatic circles, the gathering was held at the Forbes Park Pavilion amidst music, laughter and dancing.

Happy birthday, Sandie!

Turning Japanese
The magic and mystique of Tokyo, as captured through the lens of Manila’s foremost lensmen Jun de Leon, Mark Nicdao, Jake Verzosa, Sara Black and Jo Ann Bitagcol, was bared recently to an appreciative public. The Memoirs of Alpha photo exhibit opening at the posh Gateway Mall launched the entry of Sony’s Alpha 100, its first ever digital single-lens reflex camera. Welcoming guests during the Japanese-inspired fete were Sony Philippines Inc. executives led by president Hiroaki Kobayashi and VP Toshiya Kagita. A Japanese feast coinciding with the delightful occasion was especially prepared for VIP guests Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Ryuichiro Yamazaki, Araneta Group of Companies chairman Jorge Araneta, vice chairman Judy Araneta-Roxas, senior VP for marketing Grace Magno and Japan Foundation assistant director Nobuaki Iizawa, who were awed at the dazzling imagery that showed the splendour of Japan’s people and places.

Congratulations!
