MANILA, Philippines — City buses along EDSA Cubao were on gridlock on Wednesday amid the implementation of the yellow lane policy.
The Metro Manila Development Authority started implementing the yellow lane policy on Monday which orders the bus drivers to only use the two outermost lanes in a move to ease traffic congestion along EDSA.
The new policy inadvertently worsen the traffic scheme.
MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia earlier clarified that the traffic worsen because there was a confusion on the ground when even provincial buses were prevented from plying the tunnels and flyovers and ordered to ply the yellow lane.
Garcia asked motorists with private vehicles to avoid the yellow lane citing that it is intended for buses.
“Let us give this lane to the buses. So that the ordinary commuter can commute faster,” Garcia said.
The police was implemented since buses took almost all the lanes in EDSA last week. —Rosette Adel
