MANILA, Philippines — Ombudsman Special Prosecutor Edilberto Sandoval faced the Judicial and Bar Council on Wednesday at the public interview to become the country’s next chief graft buster, boasting of an increased conviction rate at the office in his stint.
Sandoval, who had served as Sandiganbayan presiding justice, said his mission would be to settle the "inordinate delay" in court should he be chosen to succeed ConchitaCarpio-Morales, who is set to retire on July 26 after serving for seven years.
“Hundreds of cases we filed with the Sandiganbayan and with regular courts have been dismissed due to inordinate delay,” he said.
