MANILA, Philippines – The voting at an elementary school in San Mateo town in the province of Rizal started on time this morning, with only minor problems during the barangay Sangguniang Kabataan and elections.
Angelito Dasalla, principal at the Maly Elementary School, said he ordered the ringing of the bell around 7 a.m. to signal the opening of the polling precincts inside the school grounds.
Historically, Dasalla said both local and national elections in San Mateo have been generally peaceful and orderly, with no incidence of violence and fraud.
"Perhaps, we conduct one of the most peaceful elections in the province of Rizal," he said.
The Commission on Elections announced earlier that barangay and SK polls in some parts of the country will be scheduled tomorrow due to the delay in the arrival of election paraphernalia.
