Tiny, the woman warrior

I would like to share with you about a woman soldier whose will power to surpass every task and challenges in life are as stylish as the neatly pressed suit worn by gentlemen.

Let us call her Tiny. Tiny is what some of her friends use to call her. She said her aunt gave her this nickname when she was young because she was very little then and beautiful (pun intended). Appropriate to the person, Tiny works diligently hard in silence to meet results the organization is deemed to yield.

If you take a closer look on her face, you can see the tracks of tears that left from the painful journey she has crossed. Love is all that makes her live the life she has.  Full of dreams and hopes, she is a mother of a healthy plump boy who graduated last month.

Tiny, like any other single moms is determined to provide everything she can for her child despite the pressure she has gone through and is going through. I admire the willingness and perseverance of a solo parent she has in herself.

Donning the battle dress uniform during office hours or till duty is off, exposes the fighter within who inspires other individuals to do great things despite the circumstances that hinder growth to greatness when all there is is a breathing of a loving heart. This makes one concrete example why women, like men are warriors too metaphorically.

For all that has happened, this does not make her less of the woman she is but in fact makes her more of the person she used to be. Given the trials, she managed to excel from what was expected of her and even set the bar very high! This is why I am one hell of a proud sister here.

I, too, would like to remind all women who are heavily laden and those who are struggling in life to continue to fight against all odds. Carry on; there will always be a reward for the warrior who never surrenders.

Tiny is a good friend of mine who is from Zamboanga and loves to eat out a lot. She turned 29 on March 18. Cheers! —HANA CRUZ, taghanacruz@yahoo.com
