AFP cares for us

It is very comforting knowing that our uniformed personnel has lost no time in assuring that Mayon volcano evacuees are safe in the designated evacuation centers.  Some residents want to return to their homes for fear of losing their belongings. It is but appropriate that the military has put up checkpoints to also monitor the safety of other areas.

The AFP is always prepared for these situations and have their 6x6 trucks on stand-by in case immediate and orderly evacuation is needed when an eruption occurs or when lahar flows because of rains. Moreso, the soldiers strictly enforces the 6 km danger zone to residents and tourists. There are also 6x6 trucks from the Southern Luzon Command donated which consist of relief goods for evacuees, water purifiers.

We laud the Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Gen. Gregorio Pio Catapang who went around and to check on the condition of the evacuees together with NDRRMC Undersecretary Pama. He is really on the go, whenever unforeseen events happen. The military will also evacuate farm animals to prevent Mayon residents from worrying and going back to their places. I’m sure if something similar happens to us here in Quezon, soldiers will respond quickly as they always do.

It is during these times that we see the continuing good service our soldiers give to those who need their help. The Armed Forces cares for us.— Victor Maltos, Lucena, Quezon
