Don’t ignore the sign

Despite the law giving priority to senior citizens, persons with disability, and pregnant women we can see seats in buses reserved for them are occupied by normal passengers. The reason for giving priority for them is obvious. The sign at the top of the seats is clear – reserved for senior citizens, PWDs, and pregnant women.

But why do buses ignore the sign at the expense of those supposed to use the seats?

We are calling the attention of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to remind bus companies to strictly enforce the law. That the conductors will not allow normal passengers to use the seats.

Why is the law being disregarded? Is there no penalty for not implementing it? So why is it that buses ignore the sign?

We also call the attention of those concerned to make the necessary amendments that will force buses to follow the law. The law should be strictly implemented for the benefit of those concerned. – Leonardo Canta, Marcelo Magundayao,  Aida Mendicion (representing senior citizens, PWDs, and pregnant women respectively), Panapaan IV, Bacoor City
