ORMOC CITY, Philippines – The Filipino Needy Children Fund Inc., a charitable organization based in Australia, once more distributed school supplies, clothes, goodies and toys to children of various barangays in this city, to include some 4th district towns, aside from donating medical equipment to selected hospitals here.
Rachel Alamil-Bessant, who is coordinating the distribution efforts of the organization here in Ormoc with the help of her brother barangay councilor Susanio Alamil, said this year’s distribution was made more memorable with the presence of the Australians Martha Beard, Chris Tyrell and Elliot Courtness. The three are active in raising funds and collecting donations for the organization. Seeing the joy and happiness of children receiving the donations have made stronger their commitment to pay forward the blessings of living in a rich country to a developing one.
The distributions started on the last week of June yet, after the 40-foot container van arrived. Bessant added there will be more to come.
Their most recent activity was on Wednesday with a feeding program and distribution of school supplies and toys at the Naulayan and Man-suan elementary schools in the town of Matag-ob, Leyte. The feeding program was sponsored by Imelda Gubbels.
Other areas that benefitted in this year’s distribution by the organization are Barangay Mabato, Sumangga, Don Potenciano Larrazabal, Don Carlos Rivilla (Boroc), Donghol and Camp Downes.
The organization also had a medical mission at Don Carlos Rivilla, with newly elected councilor Dr. Gerry Penserga leading the medical team that cooperated with the group.
Bessant said that they have also distributed similar items to other parts of the country. They have done it in Zambales, Bohol, Cebu and even Manila.
