MANILA, Philippines - Staying true to its commitment to education and youth development, Universal Robina Corp. (URC) recently donated more Kantina Kariton mobile snack carts to Dynamic Teen Company (DTC). Employees of the URC also volunteered as tutors in support of DTC’s Kariton Revolution literacy program.
The Kantina Kariton snack carts are filled with URC products including Big Boy Hotdog, Nissin Cup Noodles, Refresh Flavored Drink, Jack ‘n Jill Pinoy Kendi, Jack ‘n Jill Roller Coaster, Jack ‘n Jill Quake Quezo Bar, Red Dragon Active Smart, Hidden Spring Mineral Water, Jack ‘n Jill Magic Creams Coated, Jack ‘n Jill Star Fruits, Jack ‘n Jill Filled Stix, C2 Green Tea, Jack ‘n Jill Presto Creams, Nissin Instant Mami and Jack ‘n Jill Quake Cakes. In addition, URC employees assisted teachers, and gave away products to the Kariton Revolution creations site as well as the public market, city dumpsite, and cemetery. The employees also helped the DTC volunteer tutors hold English and Math classes, and taught underprivileged children good values and proper hygiene.
“We thank URC for their unwavering support to our cause to empower disadvantaged children,” said Teacher Donna Manun-og of the Dynamic Teen Company. “With their help, we will be able to reach out to more kids and help them become productive contributors to the society.”
Headed by 2009 CNN Hero of the Year Efren Peñaflorida, the Dynamic Teen Company has expanded its alternative classroom program, dubbed Kariton Revolution, to tackle the 7 Ks: Karunungan (education), Kabataan (youth), Kalusugan (health), Kapayapaan (peace and order), Kalinangan (arts and culture), Kalikasan (environment), and Kabuhayan (livelihood). The group regularly holds classes for poverty-stricken children in impoverished areas in Cavite City.
