MCLE accredited seminar in crafting HR policies, contracts

MANILA, Philippines - The Center for Global Best Practices (CGBP) will be holding a special MCLE-accredited seminar entitled, “Best Practices in Crafting HR Policies & Contracts” at the Edsa Shangri-La Hotel in Mandaluyong City on Jan. 13-14, 2011.

As has often been said, people are the lifeblood of an organization. However, many companies, whether big or small, experience HR problems that often arise from ambiguities or defects in the contracts they have with their personnel. Business owners are especially vulnerable to such issues as, being caught up in the whirl of growing their business, they are either unable to focus on labor matters or are unaware of the various issues regarding HR policies and contracts. Companies would also save costs on legal fees and the like, as well as avoid unnecessary friction or restiveness among its personnel, if it ensured that its HR policies and contracts were sound and aligned with existing and updated Philippine labor laws.

This two-day solutions-oriented program is a definitive guide in crafting a working HR policy, code of discipline and employment contract.

Featured speakers and expert practitioners are Atty. Emerico De Guzman, senior partner and head of Labor and Employment of top law firm Angara Abello Concepcion Regala & Cruz Law Offices (ACCRALAW) and principal author of the 2008 book, Philippine Chapter of the Guide to International Labor and Employment Law; Atty. Joselito Chan, CPA, senior managing partner of ChanRobles Law Firm and author of two books on Philippine labor, one of which has been coined as the “Encyclopedia Britannica” of Philippine labor laws; Atty. Bienvenido Laguesma, former DOLE secretary and founder and senior partner of Laguesma Magsalin Consulta & Gastardo Law Offices; and Ramon de Leon, formerly managing director of the Ayala Corp. and seconded to the various Ayala-owned subsidiaries to help in the corporate transformation of Globe Telecoms, MWSS, IMI, and BPI Family Bank.
