SM builds new schoolbuildings in Naga City

MANILA, Philippines - SM Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of retail and mall leader SM continues to build schoolhouses in areas where schoolhouses are most needed. Two public schools in Naga City were recipients of two new schoolbuildings: the Don Manuel I. Abella Elementary School in Barangay Cararayan and the Tinago National High School, Barangay Tinago. The schoolbuildings come with complete classroom facilities including blackboards, desks, and toilet facilities as well as textbooks, reference materials and other educational aids for use of the teachers.

Naga Mayor John Bongat, SMFI executive director for education Linda Atayde; Dr. Agnes Rubio, OIC, School Division Superintendent, Naga City; SM City Naga asst. mall manager Janet De Vera; and SM City asst. mall manager Wesley Villanueva, were present during the turnover of both schoolhouses. Other guests at the Don Manuel Abella Elementary School building inauguration were PTA president Roberto Sta. Clara, school principal Anna Liza Delos Martirez, education supervisor Filomena Cecilio, Barangay Captain of Cararayan Ricardo Buena; and Naga City School Board administrator Hernani Suron. Meanwhile guests at the turnover ceremonies in Tinago National High School were: Benedik Warren Ubante, Principal; Herman Bobis, Division Physical Facilities coordinator, Naga City; SM City Naga food court manager Rey Imperial, and Barangay Captain of Tinago Mr. Importante.

More schoolbuildings are being constructed in an effort to help the government in addressing the classroom shortage. SM Prime Holdings through the SM Foundation is hurrying up the construction for turnover before the year ends.
