Mapua holds photo contest for college students

MANILA, Philippines - All Metro Manila college students engaged in amateur photography are invited to participate in a photo contest dubbed “Ang Pamana ni Pepe,” which centers on the theme of Jose Rizal and the Filipino values he stands for.

The contest is sponsored by the Illuminata Mapua, an organization composed of students enrolled at Mapua Institute of Technology (MIT)-Makati City, to celebrate the 149th birth anniversary of the National Hero. It is also anchored on the “Buhay Rizal” national renewal campaign currently being promoted by the Yuchengco Group of Companies (YGC).

Entries must revolve around any of the following six Rizalian values, namely: 1) Be proud of the Filipino race; 2) Achieve your dreams and aspirations; 3) Use your God-given talents; 4) Live with honor and integrity; 5) Have the passion to excel; and 6) Love and respect your parents.

Participants must be collegiate students aged 16-25, who are amateur photography enthusiasts, including students of MIT Makati and Intramuros. Amateur photographers beyond 25 years of age can also join. Submission of entries will be from May 3 to June 11, 2010.

A P200 registration fee will be charged for each entry. Each participant is allowed a maximum of five entries.
