Learning beyond the four walls of the Britesparks classroom

MANILA, Philippines - It’s a fact that we are all still trying to survive the financial crisis that hit the whole world last year. However, even if money is scarce, parents would always go for the best education their money could afford.

Imagine a school that would teach entrepreneurship even to preschoolers.

Britesparks International School (BIS) believes that a person’s entrepreneurship skills must be awakened early in life. To achieve this, the BIS curriculum is the only one in the country that includes the subject Enterprise. It is here where a student is exposed to the rudiments of business.

Late last year BIS gradeschoolers, 4th to 7th grade, had their on the job training at the Mossimo Store at SM North Edsa, Quezon City. The kids assisted customers from choosing the items all the way to ringing up the register. For the children, their stint at Mossimo was a great learning experience.

Due to the success of the Enterprise Program in the grade school department, BIS will open its doors to high schoolers who would like to have a different high school experience this schoolyear, 2010-2011. BIS’s unique high school curriculum has 3 tracks to prepare them properly for university.

The three tracks are: The Natural Science track is for students whose interests lean towards natural sciences and engineering; Social Science track is for those interested in and will probably pursue degrees in Sociology, Psychology, Anthropology, Philosophy, Education, Political Science, Management, Humanities and Communication Arts; and Special Employment Program track for those who would like to work or set up their own business immediately after high school. Special training in Culinary Arts, Interior Design and IT are just a few of the subjects that will be offered under this track.
