San Beda law graduate tops 2014 bar exams

MANILA, Philippines —  A graduate from the San Beda College of Law ranked first in the 2014 bar examinations, the Supreme Court announced Thursday.

San Beda's Irene Mae Alcobilla was named as topnotcher with an 85.5-percent rating.

Earning the top ten places are:

2nd place
Christian Drilon - Ateneo de Manila University - 85.45%

3rd place
Sandra Mae Magalang - University of the Philippines - 84.60%

4th place
Mark Leo Bejemino - University of the Philippines - 84.55%
Gil Garcia II - Ateneo de Davao University - 84.55%
Reginald Laco - De La Salle University Lipa - 84.55%

5th place
Michelle Liao - University of Cebu - 84.50%

6th place
Jose Angelo David - San Beda College - 84.45%

7th place
Adrian Augmentado - San Beda College - 84.35%

8th place
Rhey David Daway - University of the Philippines - 84.20%
Fideliz Cardellie Diaz - Far Eastern University-DLSU (Juris Doctor MBA) - 84.20%

9th place
Jamie Liz Yu - University of the Philippines - 84.00%

10th place
Tristan Matthew Delgado - Ateneo de Manila University - 83.95%

The Supreme Court lowered the passing grade to 73 percent this year, allowing 1,126 or 18.82 percent of all 5,984 exam takers to pass.
