MANILA, Philippines - The University of the Philippines is among the world's top educational institutions in agriculture and forestry, QS Quacquarelli Symonds's World University Rankings by Subject showed on Wednesday.
UP is the sole university in the country that made it to the global top 200 in at least one of the 30 fields included in the rankings, QS said. The subjects covered arts and humanities, engineering and technology, life sciences and medicine, natural sciences and social sciences and management.
The Commission on Higher Education declared UP's campus in Los Baños campus as a Center of Excellence in agriculture and forestry.
In Asia, the National University of Singapore made it to the global top 10 in all engineering and technology subjects, while Hong Kong accounted for three of the top 20 institutions in computer science.
Harvard University in the United States was declared the best all-round institution, topping 11 subject areas in the rankings.
The rankings are based on research citations, reputational surveys of over 90,000 academics and graduate employers worldwide, QS said.
