MANILA, Philippines - A group of cultural dancers from the University of the Cordilleras staged a performance early this month in Bangkok, Thailand, showcasing the cultural heritage of the Cordilleran people.
The Hapiyoh Mi Cultural Group, winner of the 2010 Regional Dance Competition organized by the Department of Education and the University of the Philippines, staged a cultural performance titled "Intako Mesagni (Let's Go Dancing)"at the Grand Ballroom of the S31 Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.
The group is composed of University of the Cordilleras Center for Creative Productions. Formed 11 years ago, the group, whose name means "Our Shield," aims to promote and preserve the culture of the Cordilleras.
The group performed dances from the provinces of Ifugao, Mt. Province, Abra, Kalinga and Apayao, with their distinctive costumes and musical instruments.
The event was organized by the United Filipinos in Thailand.
