Doing more research to stop boredom

While we have been locked inside our homes for a month already, to cut the boredom, we search for stories from all over the world and verified whether they are true or false. After all this is the age of fake news so we need to be very careful. When I read a report from the Philippine STAR that many scientists and academics have reached a consensus on the natural origin of the coronavirus, I can only suspect that many of these so-called scientists or academics must kowtow to the propaganda sold worldwide by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Even Health Secretary Francisco Duque III told The STAR “That’s a lot of speculation. I’ve heard about it but there is really no clear evidence to show that. There’s no evidence unless it can be proven beyond reasonable doubt.” Well they did not research enough on this, but if they do, there is more evidence on this.

What would these academics or scientists tell us next? That the World Health Organization (WHO) has really helped the world and is run by professional people? Don’t these people know that reports coming from Wuhan, China suppressed by Chinese propaganda showed that the first victims of this virus did not even visit the Wuhan Wet Market? I also got a report that the Wuhan Wet Market doesn’t sell bats for food? So what more evidence do they want to know? I know why Sec. Duque doesn’t want to question China at this point, he doesn’t want to displease his boss, Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. But nearly all the mainstream media in the world are now tasking China for its failure to respond early to this crisis we are now suffering.

Chinese propagandists also report that their number of deaths is only around 3,000 plus in the two months February and March. But there is a video report from the Chinese people that many crematoriums have reached their full capacity and one funeral home has bought 5,000 urns. It turned out other funeral homes (total number is 7 funeral homes) also bought the same number of urns. Add those urns and see the video of family members lining up to get the cremated remains of their loved ones and you will know that you just cannot believe in the Chinese propaganda.

Meanwhile in Cebu City last Friday, The Freeman came up with a headline news “DOH-7: Entire Sitio ‘Infected’. For me this was an irresponsible statement by Cebu City Health Officer Daisy Villa simply because people in Sitio Zapatera who live in houses within arms length of each other have supposedly been infected. With some 9,000 people living within Sitio Zapatera, DOH is saying that Cebu City suddenly has 9,000 infected people. But in truth DOH never tested the majority of people living there. So why issue this piece of wrong information to Cebuanos?

At least we are getting some positive news from Israel that a placenta-based cell therapy formulated by an Israeli therapeutic company has been found to have totally cured six critically ill COVID-19 patients in Israel.

Data provided by Haifa, Israel-based Pluristem Therapeutic Inc., according to a recent report posted on The Jerusalem Post’s website, indicated that the six patients, who were suffering from acute respiratory failure and inflammations associated with COVID-19, were treated at three Israeli hospitals for a week. Let’s hope that Israel can send us these vaccines to help people recover from this deadly virus.

Meanwhile, in ten days, that’s May 3, this would be the end of our national lockdown. However, I would like to believe that the Task Force headed by Pres. Rodrigo Duterte would simply turn on a switch and suddenly things would go back to normal. At this stage, they should first identify which areas are ready to restore their economy for as long as they follow certain procedures like Social Distancing has to be implemented. They can begin with the communities or cities that have the lowest or no COVID-19 cases… then go to the next.

I would like to emphasize to the Duterte Administration that they must look at the right balance in restoring the economy while at the same time assuring our people that their health conditions would be monitored strictly to prevent a second wave of the virus returning to their places. This is now happening in Wuhan, China and in Singapore.

Meanwhile, I got a positive response on our suggestion that the Philippine Senate should immediately stop the construction of the P8.9 billion brand new Senate building located in an 18,320 square meter parcel of land owned by the Bases Conversion and Development Authority, located at the Navy Village in Fort Bonifacio. However we only heard an eerie silence from the usually noisy Senators who wanted the DOH chief to resign.

Obviously these 24 Senators want to continue with their extravagance rather than help the Filipino people in these dark times. Like I said, this money can very well be used to purchase or build a Hospital Ship that the Filipino people can use during typhoons or natural calamities!
