Extortion on a lonely road

WOMEN’S ADVOCACY. A middle aged woman who is known among her neighbors as an advocate for women’s rights and wellbeing, attended a single mothers’ Christmas party. She left for home shortly before midnight. As she was about to start her car she saw a man lying across her path. The man refused to clear the way compelling the woman to get down and talk to the man who appeared drunk. To shorten the story, the woman was forced to give the man P200 just so he would give way. “Hibawo ko biktima ko sa extortion, pero sige na lang. All is well that ended well.”

WRONG MOVE. At home, the woman was mildly scolded by her two eldest sons for her “wrong move.” The sons said “Kuyaw tong gihimo ni Mama.” They said she could have called or texted about the fix she was in and they could rush to where she was. They have two other cars. “May nalang kay extortion ang nahitabo. Kon hostage-taker pa ang tawo, dakong problema ang nahitabo,” the sons said.
