Fake cop harasses buko vendor

HARASSED. A man selling young coconut (buko) along a city street appeared scared when someone tapped him on the shoulder and threatened him with arrest for selling buko. He did not know what to do until another man, companion of the man claiming to be a cop came and advised the buko man to just give the “cop” a certain amount. He did and that solved his problem.

BEWARE. A barangay tanod said there are many small-time extortionists here victimizing small-time merchants, especially those from the towns, by asking them little sums for cigarettes or bus fare. Because the merchants are not what we call “street smart” they easily fall prey to the petty extortionists.
