Applause for others, laughter for Erap

Sugar prices have gone up. Bitter news this. But my diabetic friends say: "Who cares?"

* * *

The Comelec has allowed Erap to run. What else could it do? Erap has already started running.

* * *

Pagasa said no storm was seen last week. None. Except in the Senate where the senators stormed the fort of Manny Villar.

* * *

I have watched on tv some presidential forums. I have noticed that while Manny, Noynoy, Gibo and Eddie got the wild applause, Erap got the wild laughter.

* * *

Someone said to me: "The more I watch and listen to Gibo, the more I want him to be President." He added: "Gibo, hindi ka ma-Bigo."

* * *

Did you know that Gibo Teodoro is a veteran pilot? No not just of a Piper Cub or a Cessna but big planes like the military's C-130 cargo planes and the commercial Boeing aircraft. But will this help Gibo fly in May?

* * *

If Manny Villar wins in May, he could thank Dolphy for his no-joking endorsement. I have been listening to Dolphy's no-nonsense endorsement of Villar and I find it very convincing. No kidding.

More e-mails on Cerge Remonde's passing. From Lyndon Castillo (Hong Kong) and Orly Diasnes (Singapore): They were shocked by the sudden death of Cerge. Said Lyndon: "Cerge and I were classmates in high school. That was long ago but he still remembered me when I introduced myself to him in Hong Kong a few months ago. He hugged me and said: "Wa ko malimot nimo, Don (my nickname) oy!" Orly said: "Cebu has lost one of his great sons in Sir Remonde's death."

The town of Carmen in North Cebu has just celebrated its 37th Sinulog festival with great success. I was one of the few newsmen who witnessed the maiden staging of Sinulog sa Carmen on invitation of Fr. Jose Motus, parish priest of the town.

* * *

The original Sinulog sa Carmen was a copy of the Ati-atihan of Kalibo where Father Motus came from. He said he wanted to give the Carmen parishioners something new during their fiesta celebration. So he founded the Carmen ati-atihan.

* * *

The Carmen Sinulog started years ahead of the Cebu City Sinulog. It was beginning to hit it big with many people including tourists coming to witness it when the Sinulog of Cebu City came and kind of stole the limelight from the Carmen Sinulog. What with its great logistics and commercial blitz.

Dr. Telly Parcia texted: "What do you think of the carnival-like election this year?" Oh, well, since my kiddie days I always enjoy carnivals. Hehehe.
