LAUGHING MATTER. A Cebuano business executive who attended a business conference in a Western Visayan city told The Ear he overheard some businessmen talking about politics in Cebu. One of them said: “In Cebu, politicians are quarreling even on such a minor matter as a basketball board.” And this was followed by a chorus of laughter. “Na-embarrassed ko oy,” the Cebuano exec said.
CONSOLATION. The same Cebuano business exec said he was later consoled somehow when he heard one businessman from Davao say: “The bus terminal in Cebu (South Bus Terminal) makes you feel you’re in the departure area of the Hong Kong subway terminal ... It’s just a smaller version though.” The Cebuano said: “Nakabawi sad ko.”
