Loyalty walk a daily exercise

Loyalty walk has become an almost daily exercise in Malacañang. Walking with the President is better than walking out on her and/or walking off with dirty kickback money.

* * *

First to do the walk were the police and military men. Then the members of the Cabinet. And the mayors and governors. This loyalty walk, says a fan of Ate Glo, is a step in the right direction.

My friend Ben Ypil said he caught this on tv: A senator asking Jun Lozada: "And how did they responded to you?" To borrow a word from the youths of this generation, I say "Yucks!"

* * *

Ben asked if the senator was licensed to murder the English grammar. Well, senators have the license to say anything during a Senate hearing. That includes murdering the English grammar. Which is OK. But wait till they pass a law making that a crime.

Reminds me of a certain congressman years ago who asked a constituent who went to his office to seek help: "Why what did he did when he threatened you?" This little joke was passed on to me by some old newsmen who have left me behind.

Members of the Senate and the House should approve the English Bill of Rep. Eddiegul Gullas. It's for their own good, not only for the pupils. Hehehe!

The 62nd National Students Basketball Championship is right now ongoing in Cebu. A good number of teams (college and high school) are in town taking part in the tournaments. It is sad to note, however, that what are believed to be the "elite" cage teams from Ateneo, La Salle, San Beda, Sto. Tomas, FEU, etc. are not participating.

Many fans of collegiate basketball here are shaking their heads in dismay. "Nganong wa man sila mangapil? Tungod ba kay kunohay sikat sila?," one rabid cage fan said or was heard saying. I can't help believing that maybe that's the reason. If that is so, that's lot of bull because a survey has shown that 80 percent of the players in the above-mentioned teams are from the provinces.

Oh, let's leave well enough alone. The absence of these so-called "sikat" teams notwithstanding, I guess my friend Lorenzo "Chao" Sy still deserve to be congratulated for making an effort to bring to our shores the 62nd NSBC.
