Eggs offered in exchange for clear skies on New Year's eve

EGGS FOR FIREWORKS. Because of the bad weather experienced during the holiday season, many were concerned that their fireworks would fizzle out in the rain during Christmas and New Year’s eve. The Ear heard that some companies that showcased fireworks went to monasteries to offer eggs, hoping to be granted clear skies in time for their grand fireworks display.

ON THE SAFE SIDE. One corporate secretary said,“Naniguro lang mi kay sayang. We spent thousands of pesos para sa fireworks unya ulanon lang. Dugay na ning praktis natong Cebuanos nga mohalad og itlog didto sa monastery kung dili kita ganahan mo uwan anang adlawa. Epektibo man sab. Better to be on the safe side.” Maybe the offerings worked because the city witnessed a grand fireworks display lighting up the New Year sky.
