No gays in the PNP, only suspects

Mayors Ouano and Radaza have been sued over the "overpriced" decorative lampposts. Their political foes must be cheering in delight.

The bishops are up in arms against some innocent nuns seen tinkering with some slot machines in a gaming exhibit in Manila. That's a lot of nun-sense.
* * *
My friend Undo says the nuns were only trying to find out what's in the slot machine that draws countless people to it only to lose money.

The money dropped into the slot in the slot machine can talk. It says to the gamer (aka gambler): "Bye now!" No, it doesn't add: "See you later."

A Caucasian tourist was reported to have wondered why there are security guards in our churches. Well, they're more presentable than bouncers.
* * *
That tourist apparently didn't know that many saints in our churches have been robbed of their jewelry and some have even been decapitated.

The PNP doesn't ban gays from its ranks. A fellow newsman says: "I have not met any bading in our police force but I know of some cops who are suspects. They are those with well manicured fingernails."

Ms. Silveria Ocampo of Carcar, Cebu, e-mailed: "Governor Gwen Garcia was right in berating Consolacion Mayor Avel Gungob because he didn't follow party rules and she had to exercise her authority over him. The mayor has himself to blame for the governor's outburst..."

The summer heat and the worsening global warming could not be blamed for the governor's outburst, right Ma'am Ocampo? Aside from Hizzoner himself, also to blame, maybe, is the election season that has started to sizzle.

An e-mail from another reader said: "I've read in The Freeman today that DPWH Secretary Ebdane is denying involvement in the controversial lamps purchase and is passing the ball (blame?) to local officials. In this season of Lent, nanghunaw sila."

I was reading yesterday's the Streesmart feature (conducted by Garry Lao and Paul Rosaroso) and was shocked to find out that none of the three interviewees could answer correctly the question, "What is the capital of Negros Occidental?" A guest service manager answered: "Wala ko kahibalo." An assistant cook said: "Bais City." And a waiter replied: "Negros City gihapon." They never heard of Bacolod City!
