Mr. Leopoldo C. Sanchez has to be congratulated for his honest and frank opinion with regard to meddling in politics and other matters by Bishops in which they have no authority.
Indeed, the prime concern of Bishops is their flock, their sheep who are looking for direction and spiritual guidance, so much needed but alas so much neglected. The faithful people are looking for their shepherds and they are not there to answer their prayers, their requests, their problems.
"Character change needed" as the CBCP called for on Sunday December 18. Huge task but it can be surmounted if the entire Roman Catholic leaders in our country show the right road, preach the truth, be transparent, set the example and ensure that all priests will obey, carefully and strictly following the rules of the Church as a whole, including the various official documents issued by their respective Diocese but too often ignored and set aside bringing serious errors including Liturgical abuses so detrimental to the Church without mentioning confusion amongst the lay people.
Very often we can read in various publications and/or media about education, formation and transformation. Good but what has be done? What it is done?
How to reach transformation if you do not have the formation? But the formation can not be successfully achieved if education is not there.
Education is the key to change. Formation is the key to transformation. Awareness brings motivation. Motivation leads to action. Action needs to be accompanied by a committed love and spirituality.
It has been said: Jesus was engaged in a "Religious Transformation" not in a "Political Revolution." If with the help of our bishops and the priests, the three words: Education - Formation - Transformation are duly implemented it might, in fact then accomplish miracles in reaching the "needed character change."
Yes, Mr Leoplodo C. Sanchez, we have a big problem in the Church. Let us hope the right solution will be found to the benefit of all.
