Twitter on 'International Kissing Day' hangover

MANILA, Philippines - After celebrating "International Kissing Day" on June 6, it seems like the social media has a kissing hangover.  Trending yet again on Twitter is "Today is International Kissing Day."

This celebration first began in the United Kingdom, but now has been adopted worldwide. The official awareness day site says the day "aims to make us appreciate a kiss in its own right. No conventions, no social norms, just a kiss. Across the globe, we embrace the kiss by embracing someone else."

A study by psychology professor Gordon Gallup found that 66 percent of women and 59 percent of men surveyed had broken up with someone because they were a bad kisser.

The longest kiss lasted 58 hours, 35 minutes and 58 seconds and was achieved by Ekkachai Tiranarat and Laksana Tiranarat (both Thailand) at an event organized by Ripley's Believe It or Not! Pattaya, in Pattaya, Thailand, on 12-14 February 2013.

You may have missed the celebration, but every day is enough reason to give someone a peck on the cheek or perhaps, for those who are lucky enough to have a partner, an intense and passionate kiss on the lips.

Here are some tweets about the seemingly extended celebration of  “International Kissing Day”:
