MANILA, Philippines - A stamp showing the Banaue Rice Terraces and the Cinque Terre in Italy will be issued on April 4 to mark the 65th year of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Italy.

The stamps will be sold at P10 a piece. The Philippine Postal Corp. (PHLPost) has printed 80,000 pieces.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has declared the Banaue Rice Terraces  in Ifugao province and the Cinque Terre in the Liguria region in Italy as world heritage sites.

In its website, UNESCO said: “For 2,000 years, the high rice fields of the Ifugao have followed the contours of the mountains. The fruit of knowledge handed down from one generation to the next, and the expression of sacred traditions and a delicate social balance, they have helped to create a landscape of great beauty that expresses the harmony between humankind and the environment.”

Over the years, people have reportedly built terraces in the Cinque Terre overlooking the sea. It is one of the prominent tourist destinations in Italy.
