A jealous 37-year-old housewife yesterday cut off the penis of her philandering husband.
But the victim, a 32-year-old traffic aide in Metro Manila, refused to file charges against his wife because of their three children.
“The husband refused to have his wife arrested and did not file charges against her,” said Senior Superintendent Francisco Uyami Jr., Pasig City police chief.
According to Uyami, the couple always argued, allegedly because of Joelito’s womanizing.
After a particularly heated quarrel last week, Joelito left their residence in Barangay Pinagbuhatan. Returning home at about 1:30 a.m. yesterday, the drunken Joelito went directly went to bed beside his wife.
Minutes later, his wife reportedly started removing his clothes, then pulled out a fan knife and cut off the victim’s penis, said Uyami.
The victim was rushed to the Rizal Medical Center in Pasig City where doctors tried unsuccessfully to re-attach his penis.
The incident calls to mind the story of American couple John and Lorena Bobbitt. In 1993 Lorena cut off John’s penis with a kitchen knife. It was surgically reattached and John went on to star in porn movies.
