BOC chief’s reforms cited

MANILA, Philippines — Recognizing reforms in the Bureau of Customs, a Golden Peacock Award for Excellence in Government Service has been conferred on BOC Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce Inc.

The FICCI cited Nepomuceno’s leadership, integrity and commitment to strengthening customs administration and facilitating legitimate trade.

Nepomuceno received the award on Aug. 6 during the 6th Customs Industry Consultative and Advisory Council general assembly.

Discussed at the assembly were the new guidelines on the accreditation of importers and customs brokers as well as stakeholder proposals on reducing cargo clearance costs.
