Town exec dies in road mishap

SAN CARLOS CITY, Pangasinan, Philippines — A municipal councilor died when his vehicle figured in an accident in this city on Thursday night.

Jan Nazer David Junio, 25, a member of the Bayambang municipal council, was driving a subcompact Toyota Avanza in Barangay Turac when he lost control of the wheel, causing the vehicle to crash into a concrete barrier of a bridge.

Responding members of the city disaster risk reduction and management council rushed Junio to the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City where he was declared dead on arrival.

In a post on social media, members of the Bayambang municipal council expressed sympathy with the family of Junio, whom they described as a dedicated public servant.

Junio was presiding officer pro tempore of the Sangguniang Bayan and chairman of the committee on education.

The municipal government described Junio’s death as a great loss to the town and the community he served.

Bayambang Mayor Niña Jose-Quiambao expressed  her grief on social media over the sudden death of Junio.
