SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union, Philippines — Minimum wage earners in Ilocos region will receive a higher take-home pay starting this month after the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board approved their request for a salary increase.

The RTWPB said that starting Nov. 19, workers in the region would receive an increase of P37, bringing the minimum daily wage in the non-agriculture sector to P505 from P468. Those in the agriculture sector will receive P480 daily.

The Department of Labor and Employment said the National Wages and Productivity Commission affirmed the wage increase through Wage Order RB 1-24 on Monday.

The RTWPB also approved an increase of P700 in the salary of domestic workers or kasambahay, bringing their minimum monthly pay to P6,700.

The wage order would benefit around 200,000 minimum wage earners and 350,000 full-time workers in the region.
