MANILA, Philippines — Six police officers have received traffic violation receipts, in an intensified implementation of traffic rules at Camp Crame in Quezon City by the Highway Patrol Group.

HPG director Col. Hansel Marantan issued the directive to instill discipline among police personnel, starting with officers assigned at the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters.

Marantan assumed the HPG post after a revamp following the appointment of Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. as acting PNP chief.

Lt. Nadame Malang, spokesperson for the HPG, said the police personnel were ticketed for violating Republic Act 4136, the Land Transportation and Traffic Code. Among the infractions are failure to bring official receipts and certificates of registration of vehicles.

“Next is delinquent registration na dapat talaga isinasaulo ng ating mga nahuli,” Malang told reporters.

Around 500 motorcycles and 300 motor vehicles were inspected at Camp Crame, Malang said.

In collaboration with the police Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group, the HPG also removed unauthorized logos and insignias installed on the vehicles.

No police officers were found driving “hot” cars or vehicles seized in law enforcement operations.

Malang reminded police officers to follow the law as the HPG will not hesitate to impose sanctions.
