COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Two village officials were killed in separate attacks in Maguindanao del Sur and Zamboanga del Sur on Friday.
The fatalities were identified as Kamran Abubakar, chief of Barangay Sambulawan in Salibo, Maguindanao del Sur, and Michael Virallo, kagawad of Barangay Uppe Dumalinao in Dumalinao town, Zamboanga del Sur.
Abubakar was standing in front of his house when he was killed, police said.
Meanwhile, Virallo was walking in Sitio Mangga in Barangay Upper Dumalinao when a man shot him several times.
Probers said Virallo died from 12 gunshot wounds in the body.
